Shopping in Germany

Let's face it: shopping is fun. And shopping made in Germany is a wonderful experience. From the traditional atmosphere of historical town centers with its pedestrianized areas to more than 400 modern shopping malls, they all offer a colorful mix of shops, boutiques, restaurants and cafés.

German products are also fascinating and seductive: Lübeck marzipan, Meissen porcelain, Glashütte watches, Bogner, Jil Sander, Puma, Mercedes Benz, BMW and Volkswagen - these German brands are synonymous with high quality and long tradition.

Berlin

Berlin is a shopping paradise, from the unusual souvenir to the luxurious designer piece. There's nothing you can't find here. Shop in elegance at "Kurfürstendamm" and visit the legendary "Kaufhaus des Westens" (KaDeWe), the largest department store on the continent or go to "Friedrichstrasse" and visit the luxurious department store in the Quartier 206. Trendy collections of young designers, extravagant shoe creations and stylish accessories you can find at many locations - especially Oranienstrasse in Kreuzberg, Kastanienallee in Prenzlauer Berg or Oranienburgerstrasse in Mitte are places to rummage for quarrying fantastic and exceptional fashion products. A visit to one of the many flea markets - the largest takes place in the Tiergarten district - is a can’t miss. When you're on the lookout for something unusual, artistic or funky, you will find it all here.

 Dresden

Dresden is most famous for its original Dresdener Christstollen®, a world-famous Christmas cake that symbolizes the swaddled Baby Jesus and was first baked around 1450. In the outer perimeter of the Neustadt you find the artistically designed Kunsthof-Passage, with its many pubs, beer gardens and local crafts shops.

Düsseldorf

Düsseldorf is without a doubt the fashion capital of Germany. Stroll around and enjoy the exclusive ambience of Königsallee (often referred to as “Kö”), one of Europe’s loveliest boulevards. From here, you have direct access to the numerous department stores in Schadowstrasse. Düsseldorf’s old quarter with its quaint passageways, old churches, and restaurants and especially the traditional brewpubs is also called “the longest bar in the world.”

Giengen an der Brenz - Steiff factory outlet

Since 1902, when Margarete Steiff created the world-famous teddy bear with the "button in the ear" quality mark, the company has made him all sorts of new friends. All of them can be admired and purchased at the World of Steiff in the historic town of Giengen an der Brenz.

Marzipan from Lübeck

In Lübeck, visitors can relax, enjoy a bite of marzipan, and find out how this almond-based delicacy has developed through the centuries from its oriental origins. Take home the perfect gift for a sweet tooth!

Meissen - State porcelain factory

The first porcelain in Europe was produced at the 300-year-old porcelain factory in Meissen and exported around the world featuring the hallmark of two blue crossed swords. A spectacular wealth and variety of exhibits illustrates the history of porcelain manufacturing at the included museum.

Metzingen

Metzingen about 30 miles south of Stuttgart is famous for its factory outlets, attracting people from all over the country and even throughout Europe. Hugo Boss, one of the world's leading fashion labels, was the first of many international companies to open an outlet store in Metzingen

 Munich

The best place to start your shopping tour is on Marienplatz square, where you will still find small specialty shops with from souvenirs to traditional costumes. The nearby Viktualienmarkt has exotic food from all over the world. The suburb Schwabing with its lively Leopoldstrasse, attracts with hundreds of boutiques, specialist outlets, antique shops and just as many bars, bistros and restaurants. The Fünf Höfe (Five Courtyards), a pedestrianized shopping center, is the perfect combination of consumerism, art and culture.

Zweibruecken

Zweibruecken about 105 miles southwest of Frankfurt is home to Germany’s biggest outlet center with more than 75 designer brands and over 75 fashion worlds at your fingertips.
